Preparation is the key to a successful time-lapse film

A huge amount of preparation went in to the Time-Lapse video for the Air Livery job. The logistics involved in capturing the aircraft repaint, in a way that both captured every aspect but also kept the film exciting was challenging.

We decided to shoot with two fixed cameras but also have two other camera angles that we could reposition at key stages of the process. Each camera would capture in the region of 15000 frames, so we ended up with 60000 frames to edit.

Daily visits were made during the 12-day process, to service and reset each camera, back-up all the files and connect new power sources to each unit.

As an addition to the conventional still camera frames we also cut-in additional HD footage that we captured, which was re-timed to fit into the time-lapse sequence.
